Armor of God registered early to be on Team USA for the 2006
Global Conquest. At a recent event we met the guys from Northern
Shield. They are a new scenario team out of Canada. They decided to attend the Global Conquest event and play on Team USA with us.
Both teams got along great and really worked well together on the field.

FIELD WALK

We set up the Armor Squad campsite on Friday afternoon. Around
3pm the Northern Shield guys showed up and we took them and our
new squad members on a field walk. If you have never played a field, especially one the size of Hell Survivors, you really need to walk it
before the event. Our new players and the Northern Shield players
were like kids in a candy store.

START OF THE EVENT
Global Conquest Y2K6 started with an explanation of how Conquest
was played, field rules, a presentation of each team, and the drawing
of starting bases. Then it was time to head onto the field and start the
first of four three hour sessions.

SATURDAY SESSIONS
Saturday consisted of a three hour morning session with a two hour
break then a three hour afternoon session. The countries allied up before the game began. Our alliances were USA, England, and Canada. The other alliance was Russia, Mexico, China, and Germany. For the most
part these alliances stayed together for the entire event. The Russia, Mexico, China, Germany alliance had several very interesting moments
but for the most part they all fought together.

CAMPING AT HELL SURVIVORS
We choose to camp right at the Hell Survivors field. The campsite
works perfect as a staging area. Our sites were right along the taxi route
so all we had to do is step out by the road and wave to catch a ride up
to the staging/vender area. We want to give a big thanks to all those taxi drivers, they saved us a lot of extra walking. Camping onsite is awesome,
it makes the weekend go smooth and you never feel rushed.

NATO FORCES
Any country could hire NATO forces to run a 20 minute mission. NATO consists of 10 experienced players with markers that have a high rate of fire and are very accurate. NATO players wear light blue jerseys. NATO is very useful when you are at a stand still. They begin their push and do not stop. Just the sound of their guns rippin at 15 to 20 balls a second is enough to send players running. And it’s not just one push and their done; they keep pushing and firing all the time. NATO is a powerful resource for a country that is having trouble penetrating a base.

SUNDAY SESSIONS
On Sunday we had two more three hour sessions. One session in the morning and one in the afternoon. The alliances stayed the same with
some rouge Germans playing on the USA, Canada, England side
toward the end of the event. As the day went along bases got nuked
one by one until only two bases were left. This resulted in heavy
fighting around the Castle for the better part of the afternoon.

                                                        FINAL CEREMONY
With only 10 minutes left in this 12 hour event
one of the remaining bases was nuked resulting
in the game ending with no one winning. It was
a nuclear holocaust. But for braggin rights they
announced the scores and USA ended with the
highest points. We were just minutes away
                                         from victory.
