At the opening of the event the refs in white robes explained that there would be five missions, each one lasting one hour. They explained there would be four teams two good (Gondor and Rohon) and two evil (Isenguard and Mordor). The two good would be allies and be working together as would the two evil teams.

Rohan, the team we were put on, received the first mission. Our mission was to take and hold Isenguard’s home base. If our battle flag was in their fort at the end of the hour we would receive 500 points. This was one of only two opportunities we would get at earning such high points. Our base was Helm’s Deep a fort at the end of a narrow long corridor. At the start of the hour we got slaughtered. Isenguard kept us bottled up in our exit corridor. After a half hour of being slaughtered and nearly all our men being reinserted at least once we pushed out and right up to Isenguards home base. A beautiful hill top fort. We had a bad start but we quickly made up for it. We positioned our battle flag in Isenguards fort and set up
a defensive perimeter. Then Gondor our allies came down from the north to help us reinforce our defenses. Isenguard and Mordor made two or three attempts with a hard screaming charge in the final minutes of the hour. In the end we held the base and received 500 points for Rohan and our allies Gondor. We even collected a few props including an enemies battle flag which gave us 50 extra points. With Rohan and Gondor in the lead we broke for lunch.

After lunch Isenguard received the mission to return the favor of taking over our base. At the sound of the horn we sprinted to the opening of our corridor and dug in. I went through 400 rounds in no time flat. We held but it was not pretty. Gondor came down from the north but had a real hard time of swinging around a swamp to lend us support. At the end of the hour we rallied with the support of our allies and pushed Isenguard and Mordor back past Isenguards base and into Mordor country. At the end of the hour Isenguard did not achieve their mission.

Next it was Mordor’s turn to attack our allies Gondor. Gondor’s base was way back in a remote part of the field on top of a large hill. By the time Rohan’s Tactical Officer Jesse was able to get a support squad to Gondor they had already been surrounded by Mordor and Isenguard. Rohan did not know that Gondors base was only being held by a few brave souls. Rohan’s main support squad hit Isenguard and Mordor head on and sent a small squad of two to swing way around the hill to clean up the other side. The two warriors swung around and the enemy thought they were on their team. In the end the squad of two took out 6 on the back side of the hill and only suffered one man down. By the time Rohan's
forces got up to the fort Gondor was thrilled to see us. Jesse left some of us behind and took the other half down to Mordor to engage the enemy before they had a chance to get back to Gondor’s base. At the end of the third hour of play Gondor held and Mordor did not achieve their mission.

The fourth mission was given to Gondor with orders to take and hold Mordors base at the end of the hour. The game had been going on for two straight hours without a break to regroup.
Battles flared up all over the field, snipers continued to take people out without anyone knowing they were there. At ten minuets left for Gondor to achieve their mission the king of Gondor in his green cloak formed a charge just as he was taken out. Nevertheless a handful of brave Gondor and Rohan forces charged Mordors base only to be cut to pieces. Mordor held and Gondor did not achieve their mission.

The final hour of play gave every team the opportunity to earn 500 points. At the end of that hour whatever team had a man holding their battle flag on top of Hilltop the highest hill on the backside of the field would earn 500 points. Isenguard and Mordor had taken an early
position on the hill and held it for most the afternoon. At the end of the last mission Rohan’s forces seen an opportunity and took the hill. They would have to hold it for the entire hour to earn the 500 points. Quickly they were joined by Gondor and their battle flag. Then the long defensive began. In the final hour you could reinsert anywhere on the field and did not have to wait for a ref to reinsert you. This resulted in the field being mixed with 1-3 people squads

all moving toward the base of the hill. Those on Isenguard and Mordor kept up a relentless assault up the hill and those on Rohon and Gondor that wished to meet back up on Hilltop would have to fight their way back up the hill. When the horn was sounded and the last paintball shot a warrior from Rohan and Gondor held their battle flag high on Hilltop. Rohan and Gondor received 500 points each.

In the end on the points board Rohan and Gondor had the highest points. Good defeated evil. But, the real winners were all the players. Everyone had a blast. The event ended with a dinner, a
prize giveaway, and prayer. Our very own Sarge got a prize for being the member of Rohan and Gondor that got hit the most. Way to sacrifice yourself for the team Sarge.
