What does it mean to be “A Christian”
It means you have accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior. You believe
that He is the Son of God who lived, died and rose from the dead to
save you from your sins.
When
a person accepts Jesus as their Savior they are freed of their sins.
A Christian works hard to stop sinning but knows that they will sin
again. The difference is Jesus will be there to pick them up, dust them
off, and say I forgive you.Live in peace. The peace of knowing you are
free of your sins is amazing.
Everyone
is a work in progress and God is helping them grow in their love and
dedication to Him. Christians are not perfect but they strive to please
the Lord.
A
Word about Sin
Sin will constantly attack your life. The important thing is when you
hit your knees and ask forgiveness in Jesus name God forgives you and
you are wiped of your sins. You must believe that. The devil uses your
old sins to make you feel guilt and doubt about how you could ever be
forgiven of such a sin. The truth is once you have laid that awful sin
before the Lord you never need to give it another thought. Believe it:
Christ died for your sins! You are forgiven!
How
to Handle Sin
Let's use swearing as an example of how to handle sin in your life.
On the paintball field things get ramped up and a Christian player lets
a swear word go. A Christian will ask to be forgiven and say sorry to
the players around them. They realize it’s not the way God wants
them to speak. So, the next time things get hot on the field they remember
to speak with honor and not obscenities. We are a constant work in progress.
The point is you strive to move sin out of your life and keep the Lord
close to you at all times.
Will
we ever be able to live a perfect life and not sin?
No, not while we’re on this earth, but we still seek to follow
Jesus and His perfect example for us. Christians are not perfect. They
just try to live as Jesus would because He is their leader. On the paintball
field people follow really good leaders and imitate their style of play.
The same is true for Christians. Christians follow Jesus and try to
imitate Him even though they never quite will until they get to heaven.
