"Put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground…”
  - Ephesians 6:13

Where did the Armor of God Verse come from?
The Apostle Paul has a huge hand in writing many
parts of the New Testament. He wrote the book of Ephesians about 60 A.D. during his two-year imprisonment in Rome. Ephesus was the most important city in western Asia (now Turkey). It was an intersection of major trade routes. It was a central place for Paul’s evangelism for about three years. Once he was imprisoned in Rome he wrote to the Ephesians to continue ministering to them. The book of Ephesians is a letter Paul wrote to help them better understand the dimensions of God’s eternal purpose and grace and come to appreciate the high goals God has in Jesus.

How you can use the Armor of God verse
It is a daily practice for some Christians to start their day buy mentally putting on the armor of God. Here’s how it works. You can say the following in prayer or just visualize it right before you get out of bed in the morning.

A Sample Armor of God Prayer
Lord, I’m putting on my full armor of God today,
so that when evil comes, I will be able to stand my
ground. I will stand firm, with the belt of truth
buckled around my waist, with the breastplate of
righteousness in place, and with my feet fitted with
the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
In addition to all this, I will take up the shield of
faith, with which I can extinguish all the flaming
arrows of the evil one. Lastly I put on the helmet
of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is
the word of God.

Remember it’s only Armor not Invincibility
This is really only an exercise to keep you in the right frame of mind. You still need to pray, read Gods Word, and keep the Lord close to you at all times. Eugene H. Peterson sums up the Ephesians 6:13-17 verse pretty well in his version of the New Testament titled The Message.
"Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You'll need them throughout your life. God's Word is an indispensable weapon."
